Jennie Peterson Butler in her own words………

lunapic_136966820617439_3   I have been crocheting for more than 50 years. I learned to crochet before the age of ten. My Italian grandmother taught me the basics, such as chain, single crochet, and double crochet. Learning to crochet using thread was  not such a challenge as a child because I was making the same things as my grandmother. I made pineapple doilies and lace edgings for pillowcases. I later taught myself other stitches and patterns using an old crochet book that my grandmother had. Then I graduated to yarn. My first afghan was the ripple pattern. That is when I learned about tension in crochet. My afghan went from 36 inches at the beginning and ended at 45″. It was supposed to be a rectangle. I made extra money in my teens and early 20′s by making Baby Layettes and bed dolls. I enjoy trying out new patterns and challenges. However my favorite item to make is an afghan. I’m not sure why but I enjoy making afghans to keep people warm. That is a little saying in my shop “….the warmth of grandma.”
